Vendors and Suppliers
Who does work for you, who sells you material, and the paperwork that goes with each dispatch.
What is the difference between a vendor and a supplier?
In Kamna, a vendor does work on your material and a supplier sells you material.
Knitters, dyers, printers and stitchers who do job work for you are vendors. Sellers of yarn, fabric and trims are suppliers.
How do I add a vendor or supplier?
Type the name on the vendor or supplier chip the first time you use them. After that, a few letters find them.
Recent names come first. Kamna keeps no master list for you to maintain.
How do I record work done in my own unit?
Enter your own stitching or ironing unit as a vendor, under its own name.
It runs the same stages as any vendor, and reports and Ask show it by name. Costing stays per piece: an internal price per piece, with a start date and an end date.
How does Kamna stop one vendor being added twice?
Vendor names match without caring about capitals, spaces or dots, so S K P, S.K.P. and skp all land on one vendor.
A name that nearly matches an existing vendor is offered before a second one is created.
What does Kamna know about each vendor?
Kamna knows what each vendor holds now and for how many days, what they billed on every lot, and their own turnaround and rate history.
It also shows the pieces that came back against the pieces sent. Whether a vendor was paid is not in Kamna; that stays in your accounts.
Does Kamna print paperwork for goods sent to vendors?
Yes. In India, every dispatch of pieces on a garment stage, and of material on a fabric run, carries a delivery challan that Kamna numbers and prints.
The challan number carries on from your challan book, and the next number shows under Factory details in More. Leave the number blank and Kamna gives one when the entry saves. Offline, type the number from your book.
A challan prints your factory's name, GSTIN and address, the vendor's name, GSTIN and address, the lot or run number, the quantity with its unit, and the date. Each GSTIN and address is typed once: yours in Factory details, the vendor's on the vendor chip. Kamna does not look addresses up from a GSTIN.
Does Kamna file tax forms or returns?
No. Kamna files no tax forms and makes no return files.
In India, Kamna files no e-way bill and makes no ITC-04 file, but every field both ask for is on its challans. The challan register exports with challan numbers, dates, vendor, and pieces sent and received, and your accountant files from it. Kamna's challans cover goods that leave your factory. When fabric goes straight from the knitter to the dyer, the paperwork for that trip is your accountant's call, and the stage is still recorded on the run.
