Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Kamna. Pricing, production tracking, AI features, data security, and billing.
Getting Started
What is Kamna?
Kamna is a production management app for CMT (Cut, Make, Trim) garment factories. It tracks every lot across your cutting, printing, stitching, and packing vendors. Fabric in, pieces out, cost per piece. Built by Cotton Basket, a CMT baby garment manufacturer in Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu.
Who is Kamna built for?
CMT garment factory owners who manage production through external job-work vendors. If you send cutting to one vendor, stitching to another, and printing to a third, Kamna tracks every lot across all of them. It is designed for the way Indian garment manufacturing actually works.
How do I sign up?
Go to kamna.app and tap Get started free. Enter your factory name, email, and phone number. You will receive a one-time verification code by email. Enter the code and your account is ready. No payment required.
Is Kamna a mobile app or a website?
Kamna is a Progressive Web App (PWA). It works in your phone's browser and can be installed to your home screen for a native app experience. It works offline and syncs when your connection returns. Native Android and iOS apps are coming soon.
Production Tracking
What is a "lot" in Kamna?
A lot is a production order. It has a buyer, style, sizes, target selling price, and delivery date. You track it through stages (cutting, printing, stitching, packing) as work moves across your vendors. Each lot shows its pipeline status, cost per piece, fabric usage, and timeline.
What production stages can I track?
Cutting entries with vendor, pieces out, fabric weight, and waste. Making stages (printing, stitching, washing, packing, or any custom stage) with pieces in, pieces out, rate, and cost. You can add as many making stages as your production process requires.
How does fabric reconciliation work?
Kamna calculates fabric issued versus fabric consumed versus waste for each lot. The variance shows exactly how much fabric leaked. Reconciliation is per-lot and covers all fabric types used in that lot. Trims are tracked for inventory but do not go through reconciliation.
Can I track trims and accessories?
Yes. Kamna tracks trim and accessory inventory. You can log usage at each production stage. Stock levels update automatically after every entry. Trims are tracked for inventory management, not for reconciliation.
How is cost per piece calculated?
Kamna calculates real cost per piece from actual production data. It includes fabric cost, cutting charges, making charges at every stage, trim costs, packing charges, and any additional costs you log. This is not an estimate. It is the actual cost based on what your vendors charged and what your fabric consumed.
What reports are available?
Kamna includes 10 reports, all open to every factory: pipeline status, overdue lots, delivery schedule, output summary, rejection tracking, cost trends, vendor summary, stock valuation, input rate trends, and audit trail. Reports are generated from your live production data.
Pricing and Plans
What plans does Kamna offer?
One. Every factory on Kamna is on a free trial with the whole product open: unlimited lots, full production tracking, fabric and trim stock, all 10 reports, Intelligence, delivery challans, buyer share links, and a login for everyone in the office. There is nothing to pay and nothing to set up. We are rebuilding our pricing around what a factory actually produces, and we will write to every factory well before anything changes. See pricing.
Intelligence (AI Features)
What is Intelligence?
Intelligence is a set of AI features open to every factory during the trial. It includes a daily briefing that shows rupees at stake across your lots, natural language Ask (ask any question about your production data in plain English), stuck lot alerts, fabric leak warnings, and low stock flags.
What can I ask using the Ask feature?
You can ask any question about your production data in plain language. For example: What is my cost per piece on lot CB-2697? Which vendor has the most pending pieces? How much fabric did I use last month? Ask reads your actual production data and answers with real numbers, not estimates.
What kind of alerts does Intelligence send?
Intelligence sends proactive alerts for stuck lots (work sitting at a vendor too long), fabric leaks (consumption variance above threshold), and low stock warnings (fabric or trim inventory running low). Alerts appear in your daily briefing.
Staff and Access
Can my staff see costs and rates?
No. Costs, rates, and margins are visible only to the owner. Staff log production data (pieces in, pieces out, fabric usage) but never see financial information. This separation is enforced at the server level, not just hidden in the interface.
How many users can I add?
As many as you need. There is no limit on logins. Add one for everyone who enters production. Staff users can enter production data but cannot see costs, rates, or margins.
What is the difference between owner and staff access?
The owner sees everything: costs, rates, margins, reports, vendor summaries, and Intelligence features. Staff see production screens only: they can log cutting entries, making stages, fabric and trim usage, but all financial data is hidden. Staff can also delete their own entries and edit lot fields.
Data and Security
Is my data safe?
Yes. All data is encrypted at rest and in transit. Each factory is completely isolated in its own tenant. No data is shared between tenants. Access is controlled by secure authentication with one-time verification codes.
Can I export my data?
Yes. Kamna supports CSV export of your lots, fabric inventory, trims and accessories, and making stages. Export is open to every factory. Your data belongs to you.
Does Kamna work offline?
Yes. Kamna is cached locally on your device. If you lose internet connectivity, you can continue viewing your data. Entries made offline are queued and synced automatically when your connection returns.
