Fabric Runs

How Kamna follows yarn or greige through knitting, dyeing and finishing until it becomes fabric in stock.

What is a fabric run?

A fabric run follows yarn or greige fabric through knitting, dyeing and finishing until it becomes fabric in stock.

Runs live under Production, on the Fabric tab.

How do I start a fabric run and issue yarn to it?

Tap the create button, choose New fabric run, and give the fabric's name. A run number is optional.

Then issue material from stock: which receipt, how much and on what date. Yarn is issued in kilos, and fabric in its own unit. Issued material comes off stock, and removing it puts it back. Creating a run needs an internet connection.

What stages can a fabric run have?

A run's stages are Knitting, Weaving, Bleaching, Dyeing, Printing, Raising, Gassing, Stentering, Compacting, Calendering, Steaming, Finishing, or Other.

Each stage has a vendor, the quantity sent, the date you want it back, the quantity received, a bill and a rate. A knitting stage also carries the knitting programme: gauge, loop length, machine diameter and feeders. Kamna shows the loss or gain between sent and received on each stage.

How does a woven run handle kilos and metres?

On a woven run the loom is where kilos become metres: yarn goes to weaving in kilos and fabric comes back in metres.

Every stage after weaving moves in metres. The weaving stage shows no loss figure, because kilos in and metres out cannot be compared. It shows the loom yield instead: metres of fabric per kilo of yarn. A knit run is kilos throughout.

How do I receive dyed fabric colour by colour?

After dyeing, mark the stage received and enter each colour that came back.

The bill basis sits below the colours, after Total received, and is chosen once for the whole stage. Billed on what was received, each colour carries its own rate on its own weight, and the stage bill is their total. Billed on what was sent, one rate covers the weight sent.

Can a fabric run reuse its stages?

Yes. Tap Save stages from this run to make a template, and the next run of the same fabric copies it.

Fabric details hold the construction with its Knit or Woven pill, GSM, yarn count and the template. The pill decides the unit the run and its fabric are counted in.

What happens when I close a fabric run?

Closing a run adds the finished fabric to Fabric stock, with the run as its source.

The fabric, its colours and what it is made of are saved together with the close, or nothing is saved and the run stays open. The fabric's rate is everything the run cost per unit that came back, and each colour carries its own rate. Reopening a run removes that fabric from stock. Deleting a run returns its issued material to stock.
