How Kamna collects, uses, and protects your personal data.

This privacy policy explains how Kamna (kamna.app), a product of K N Industries, GSTIN 33AFBPJ8394L1Z2, registered at 31/17, 1st Street, JG Nagar, Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu 641602, collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal data.

This policy is published in accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. By using Kamna, you consent to the practices described in this policy.

Who We Are

K N Industries is the Data Fiduciary for all personal data processed through Kamna. Our contact details for privacy matters are listed at the end of this policy.

Personal Data We Collect

Account data

When you create a Kamna account, we collect your factory name, your email address, and your phone number. Your email is used for authentication (one-time verification codes) and account-related communications. Your phone number is stored for account recovery and support purposes.

Production data

Data you enter while using Kamna, including lot details, vendor names, stage entries, fabric and trim inventory, cost figures, and any other information you input through the app. This is your business data. We process it solely to provide you the Kamna service.

Usage data

We collect anonymised usage analytics on our marketing website, including pages visited, time spent, referral source, and device type. Analytics are loaded asynchronously and do not block page rendering. We do not collect analytics inside the app itself.

WhatsApp enquiry data

If you submit an enquiry through our website contact form, we collect your phone number and any message you provide. This data is used to respond to your enquiry and may be stored in our CRM for follow-up purposes.

Data we do not collect

We do not collect payment card details directly. Payment processing is handled by our payment gateway partner, and card data is stored on their secure infrastructure, not on ours. We do not collect biometric data, social media profiles, or any government-issued identification numbers beyond our own GSTIN displayed for business identification.

Purpose of Processing

We process your personal data for the following purposes.

To provide the service

Your account data is used to authenticate you and give you access to your factory's production data. Your production data is processed to calculate cost per piece, generate reports, run the Intelligence features (Ask, alerts, daily briefing), and provide the core Kamna functionality.

To communicate with you

We use your email to send one-time verification codes for login, and to send important service-related communications such as billing confirmations, plan changes, or material changes to these terms. We do not send marketing emails without your explicit consent.

To improve the service

Anonymised usage data helps us understand how visitors interact with our marketing website, which helps us improve content and navigation. We do not use your production data for any purpose other than providing you the Kamna service.

To respond to enquiries

If you contact us through the website, WhatsApp, email, or phone, we use your contact information to respond and follow up on your enquiry.

Legal Basis for Processing

Under the DPDP Act, we process your personal data based on your consent, which you provide when you create an account and agree to these terms. For certain processing activities, we rely on the legitimate use provisions of the DPDP Act, specifically where processing is necessary to fulfil a contract (providing the Kamna service you subscribed to) or to comply with legal obligations.

You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us at the details provided below. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal. If you withdraw consent, we may be unable to continue providing the Kamna service to you.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure operated by a globally distributed provider with data centres worldwide.

Security measures

All data is encrypted in transit using TLS. Data at rest is encrypted on our infrastructure provider's servers. Each factory account is isolated in its own tenant with strict access controls enforced at the server level. Authentication uses one-time verification codes sent to your registered email, with no passwords stored. Staff accounts have restricted access and cannot view financial data (costs, rates, margins).

Cross-border data transfers

Because our infrastructure provider operates a globally distributed network, your data may be processed in data centres located outside India. Requests are routed to the nearest data centre, which means your data is typically processed within or near the Indian subcontinent. We rely on our infrastructure provider's data processing agreements and security practices for the protection of data processed outside India.

Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide you the Kamna service. Production data you enter remains in your account until you delete it or request account deletion.

If you cancel your subscription, your data is retained. If you request account deletion, we will delete your personal data and production data within 30 days of receiving the request, except where we are required to retain certain records for legal or regulatory compliance (such as billing records required under GST law, which are retained for the period mandated by law).

Anonymised analytics data is retained according to our analytics provider's standard retention policies and is not linked to your Kamna account.

Third-Party Processors

We use the following third-party services to operate Kamna. Each processor handles your data in accordance with their own privacy policies and our data processing agreements.

Cloud infrastructure

A globally distributed cloud platform hosts our application, database, and storage.

Website analytics

An analytics service collects anonymised usage data on the marketing site only, not inside the app.

Customer relationship management

A CRM service stores sales enquiry data for follow-up purposes.

Payment gateway

Processes subscription payments. Card details are handled entirely by the payment gateway. We do not store or have access to your card numbers.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party. We do not share your production data with any third party except as described above for service operation purposes.

Cookies and Tracking

The Kamna marketing website uses anonymised visitor analytics. Our analytics provider may set cookies on your device to distinguish unique visitors and track sessions. These cookies do not contain personal information and are not used for advertising.

The Kamna app (the PWA you use after logging in) does not set analytics cookies. It uses local storage on your device for caching and offline functionality as part of the Progressive Web App architecture.

We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or any third-party tracking for advertising purposes.

Children's Data

Kamna is a business-to-business service designed for factory owners and their staff. It is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If we become aware that we have collected data from a person under 18, we will delete it promptly.

Your Rights Under the DPDP Act

As a Data Principal under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the following rights.

Right to access

You may request a summary of the personal data we process about you and the processing activities related to it.

Right to correction

You may request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data. You can update your factory name and email directly within the app.

Right to erasure

You may request deletion of your personal data. Upon receiving a valid erasure request, we will delete your data within 30 days, subject to any legal retention requirements.

Right to grievance redressal

You have the right to submit a complaint regarding the processing of your personal data. Contact our Grievance Officer at the details provided below. We will acknowledge your complaint within 48 hours and resolve it within 30 days.

Right to nominate

You may nominate another individual to exercise your rights under the DPDP Act on your behalf, in the event of your death or incapacity.

Data Breach Notification

In the event of a personal data breach, we will notify the Data Protection Board of India within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach, as required by the DPDP Act. We will also notify affected Data Principals without unreasonable delay, providing details of the breach and the steps being taken to address it.

Governing Law

This privacy policy is governed by the laws of India, including the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. Any disputes arising from this policy shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu, India.
