Lots and Stages
A lot is one garment production run. How to create one, send its work out and bring it back.
What is a lot in Kamna?
A lot is one garment production run, from cutting to packing. It is what a buyer calls an order.
Each lot has a lot number that carries on by itself. Type a number only when you are copying from your own book.
How do I create a lot?
- Tap the create button and choose New lot, or open Production and tap New lot.
- Pick a style, or leave it blank.
- Leave the lot number blank to take the next number.
- Tap Create lot. The lot opens.
Planned pieces, delivery date, order reference, season, target selling price and notes are added later, inside the lot under Edit details. Creating a lot needs an internet connection.
How do I add sizes and colours to a lot?
Add sizes and colours inside the lot, on its sizes sheet, after the lot is created.
Cutting is then entered size by size and colour by colour against them. A size that already has cutting cannot be removed.
How do styles work with lots?
A style is a template: a lot created with a style copies its sizes, colours, piece requirement and stages.
The copy belongs to the lot. Changing the style later never changes a lot that already exists, and repeating a style copies its structure, never its quantities. Kamna has no style versions, so change a style whenever the buyer does.
A style holds its name, category, piece weight in grams or metres per piece, target selling price, trims, and a stage template with a rate per stage. On a lot, Save stages from this lot makes the lot's stages the style's template, and Update template from this lot replaces it. The first close of a lot on a style saves the template by itself.
How do I add a stage?
Open the lot, go to Making, and add a stage by picking the stage type and the vendor.
A garment stage is Fusing, Printing, Stitching, Button, Ironing, Packing, or Other with a name you type. Work in your own unit is a stage too: add the unit as a vendor under its own name.
How do I record pieces sent to a vendor?
Open the stage, choose Sent, and enter the date, the pieces sent and the date you want them back.
The pieces box shows a grey hint, either what came back from the stage before or what was cut, but it stays empty until you type. A date in the future is refused, because a plan is not an event.
In India, a dispatch also carries a delivery challan. See paperwork for goods sent to vendors.
How do I record pieces received and the vendor's bill?
Choose Received on the stage and enter the date, the pieces that came back, the bill basis, and then the bill or the rate.
Kamna never copies the pieces sent into the pieces received. Type the bill and the rate fills in, or type the rate and the bill fills in, rounded to two decimals. A receive can be saved before the bill arrives, and every sent and received entry can be edited later. The lot's cost works itself out again from the entries.
What is the bill basis?
The bill basis is what the vendor billed on: the pieces sent or the pieces received.
Each choice shows its own count, for example Sent · 596 pcs and Received · 590 pcs. It starts blank and Kamna never picks it, because a wrong basis gives a wrong cost. It is chosen once for the whole stage, and only when you enter a bill or a rate.
Can a stage be split by size or colour?
Yes. A stage can be broken into size or colour lines, each with the pieces that came back and, if the vendor priced it apart, its own rate and bill.
The stage's pieces received and bill become the totals of its lines. The lines can never come back with more pieces than went out. On a stage billed on pieces sent, one rate covers every line, so the lines carry counts only.
What do In factory, At a vendor, short and Ready to close mean?
These words say where a lot's pieces are right now.
- In factory: the pieces are with you, between stages.
- At Kumar: a stage is out with the vendor named.
- 20 short: a stage came back with fewer pieces than went out. The missing pieces are not counted as still at the vendor.
- Ready to close: every stage on the lot has been received.
The lot also shows each stage's dates, and how many days a late stage is past the date you wanted it back.
How do I put trims on a stage?
On the stage, issue trims from Trims stock: which trim, how many and, if it was split by colour, which colour.
The quantity comes off stock and its cost lands on the lot.
Can I delete a lot or a stage?
A lot can be deleted only while it has no cutting or making entries.
Deleting a stage removes its sent and received entries. A stage with trims on it cannot be deleted until the trims are removed.
